Senator Steve Kaiser to Resign

Senator Steve Kaiser to Resign

LD2 State Senator Steve Kaiser is resigning from office effective June 22nd, 2023. His initial letter stated:

“Mr. President,

It has been a great honor to represent my community in north phoenix as a State Representative and a
State Senator. I have decided to not run for office again when my re-election is due.

I would like to control my exit in a fashion that would benefit my party and its Precinct Committeeman,
by resigning now in order to appoint another Republican from my district to finish the term and run for
their own as an incumbent.

I will continue to serve my state and party, but in a different capacity. Watching good conservative
policies be vetoed has made me become more focused on a desire to grow our majority. I will continue
to serve by leading a new non-profit I have founded, called the Arizona Prosperity Project. This new
501c4 non-profit will focus on growing the Republican majority in the legislature and electing
conservative school board members across the state. The non-profit will also focus on developing good
conservative policies around issues that impact every Arizonan.

Please accept this letter as my official resignation from the Arizona State Senate serving Legislative
District 2 effective Friday, June 16, 2023.

Thank you, President Petersen, for your steadfast leadership of the Arizona Senate and the trust you put
in me as Commerce Chair. It was an honor to serve with you.

Senator Kaiser later changed the effective date of his resignation to June 22nd and informed Chairman Carver of the change as follows:

“Hi Mr. Chairman,

I wanted to let you know that my last official day as a State Senator will be June 22. I needed a few more days to tie up some loose ends on a study committee bill that I ran. I have received permission from Senate leadership to change my effective date from the 16th to the 22nd. I made this request on June 14th while still a State Senator.

LD2 PCs will meet on June 26th to elect 3 candidates whose names will be forwarded to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors where a final replacement will selected.
